Mark, I’m happy to have stumbled across your blog. I’m Jules, a 41-year-old trans guy hoping to get the OK to go on T this Friday. As you no doubt know, there aren’t a lot of resources for guys our age who are transitioning, so I really appreciate you sharing your experiences. I’m planning on doing the same thing– in fact, seeing your blog reminds me that I need to set up my own this week!
I also see you’re from Norwich; heh, my namesake is the Blessed Julian of Norwich. As a medievalist by training, it seemed appropriate to call myself after a female mystic who had a male name. I’ve loved her writings since I was at university, long before I ever came out as trans. Sometimes it does seem as though everything comes full circle in the end…
All the best to you. I’ll link you to my own blog as soon as it’s up.
Jules
Thank you for your message, Julian. I will keep my digits crossed that all goes well for you on Friday, and look forward to seeing your blog.
I’ve enjoyed poking around on your blog. There’s so much great stuff here; I’m reading and digesting, but wanted to tell you how much I’m enjoying this.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. Enjoy poking
Hi there, I’m Reid
Have been reading for blog, it’s been really helpful. I life in Norwich And at times feel abit alone in the world of transition.
Hi Reid,
Glad you’re finding the blog helpful. It can be lonely sometimes, but there’s a lot of online support around which I’ve always found good. In Norwich itself, try the Catherine Wheel for a trans friendly evening out.
Hello Mark, Firstly may I say thank you, for what you may ask? well for sharing your life with everyone, I stubbled accross this whist looking for inforamtion to support me as a partner of a transman, he is younger than me by quite a bit so the support he has is fantastic but i’m kinda forgotten. I’m also based in the sunny city of norwich. You mentioned in your last blog about a group, I think it would be a good idea to show the younger generation that everyone goes though the things you write about at some point in their lives. I’m sorry if this is boring you but I am really i suppose screaming for help and information from my side of it. on that note i.ll leave you and continue to gain inspration from your blogs and sit on the edge of my seat for the next chapter. Please keep up the great work and keep strong on your journey.
Hi Tilly-Ann,
Thank you – it means a lot to find out that the stuff I write is helpful. It’s tough for the ‘Significant Others’, I think. Some FTM groups have separate meetings for SOFFAs (Significant Others, Friends and Family) Check them out at http://www.ftmlondon.org.uk. More locally, someone like Barbara Ross may be some help and support. Give me a shout if I can help with contact.
